Today, the advancement of deep learning based object detection and segmentation algorithms brings hope and promising results for their integration at real time clinical settings for point of care diagnosis. These algorithms become very powerful in analyzing medical images. Research works have shown that remarkable results are obtained by applying deep learning algorithms for both thin and thick smear microscopic images for screening malaria disease.
